I highly recommend Cathy Reinking’s class for any actor who wants clear and honest critique from an experienced professional. My auditioning skills have been challenged by many “mock On-camera auditions” which I think is a highlight of the class. After our mock-auditions, we review the footage with Cathy and have insight into what a casting director is looking for and how we can honestly improve. Since working with Cathy, I feel like I understand myself better as an artist and have been able to give much stronger and visceral performances.

With in depth scene study and on-camera work in a safe, non-judgmental classroom environment, Cathy has been able to help me finally begin to do what I have been wanting to do my whole career: trust myself. I am now more confident and more focused thanks to her. She is honest when giving feedback to an actor while still being completely supportive and encouraging. She has deep compassion for actors and she truly desires to help us grow.

Cathy’s workshop is phenomenal. It reminded me of why I love acting in the first place. As actors we are called to reveal ourselves in our deepest capacity and connect with the audience and the reader in the room. It is a gift- in what other profession is it our job to be as vulnerable as possible? I also found this workshop a reminder that we MUST connect with the reader in a vulnerable and authentic way before we say the lines on the script. Cathy provides a safe, warm space with honest direct feedback to help each person shed their guard and bring out their inner charisma: the light and dark. I want to leave every audition feeling the way I do when I left Cathy’s workshop! In addition- I found her workshop to be essential to my own emotional growth as a human being, not just an actor.
Cathy is one of the best acting coaches I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and working with. Her nick name should be ‘Eagle Eye’ as she has an uncanny ability to instantly see what an actor is lacking. At first glance, distance and time seemed to pose a threat and fall on shaky ground as I worked with Cathy Remotely being on the east coast. But for all of those with raised eyebrows who might question this practice, I assure you that it was anything but! It truly felt as though she was in the room with me pointing out the missed beats, and lost emotions that my characters’ demanded in any of the given scenes. What’s most encouraging and gratifying is that she doesn’t allow you walk away with being just a good actor. She demands that you are brilliant at every attempt, as the business demands one to be brilliant among fierce competition. Cathy is a hidden gem in a business where many coaches claim to deliver, but come up short, ultimately, leaving you feeling lost and empty.
